Teaching and learning at
Montreat College is about the individual and is purposefully
designed to convey to every student the special place they hold
in the hearts and minds of the faculty and staff and in the
heart of God. Teaching and learning is not just about
transmitting theories and philosophies. It‘s not just about
passing on our history and heritage. It’s about creating a sense
of community and building nurturing relationships in a
distinctly Christ-centered, student-focused environment. It is
also about comprehending the passionate agape love of Christ and
allowing that love to be the basis of all relationships.
In this beautiful cove and beyond its gates, the college’s
pursuit of academic excellence, undergirded by a biblical
worldview, is recognized. We encourage academic freedom,
allowing students to explore what they truly believe and
discover how their worldviews inform their decisions. It is
about partnering with parents and the larger community to train
tomorrow’s leaders who will lead with integrity and honor.
Montreat College also partners with adult students to realize
their educational goals in a Christ-centered environment.
Through both our adult accelerated degree programs and our
athletics programs, the college has an outreach to the greater
community. Both programs emphasize leadership and team building
in an atmosphere of academic excellence, guided by a biblical
worldview. Likewise, our Outdoor Education and Environmental
Science departments teach responsibility for God’s creation and
our Bible and Religion scholars learn in an environment
conducive to the exploration of who God is.
The Fine Arts and Languages faculty stimulate creativity in our
students while the Business faculty aim to develop ethical,
responsible, and innovative leaders. Each program is built upon
a strong Liberal Arts and Christian foundation. At Montreat
College, we engage the total person in a social perspective.
