A number of
music scholarships are available to entering and continuing
students: the Edith Warren Music Scholarship, the David Lee
Wells Memorial Music Scholarship, the Crosby-Adams Music
Scholarship, and the Emily J. and Jamie E. Browning Piano
Scholarship. Awards are available to students who declare the
Music Major who:
-
Have demonstrated need; and
-
Have demonstrated excellence and potential in
the field of music through exemplary participation at
Montreat College
Students receiving these music awards and work scholarships will
be asked to contribute their time and efforts to participation
in and/or technical assistance to on- and off-campus
performances of college groups (specific duties to be set by
Music faculty each semester).
Following auditions, and in cooperation with the Director of
Financial Aid, the Music Department will annually award
scholarships. Award renewal is contingent upon the recipient's
continued satisfactory performance and continued progress toward
the academic requirements for the Music Major. (Please see the
Music Audition Information sheet,
and the Music Scholarship Application
Form.)
The Montreat College Friends of Music
also awards two one-year (non-renewable) $1000 music
scholarships to the students who receive first place recognition
in the annual Music Scholarship Competition held on campus each
spring. One scholarship is given to a continuing Montreat music
major, and one to an incoming freshman music major.
Application for the 2004-2005
competition.
The college also has numerous non-music scholarships that may
also be available to music students. Please contact the
Office of
Financial Aid for more information about these. |
