Title="Crosby Adams Doll Collection"

Subject="Dolls"

Subject="Adams, Juliette Graves, 1858-1951"

Description="Mrs. Crosby Adams, noted musician, wrote a number of piano compositions and two children's books featuring dolls as the theme. For many years, she collected dolls, some of which are now housed in the Montreat College Library, Montreat, North Carolina. This is a photograph of part of Mrs. Adams' doll collection in her home in Montreat, N.C. Mrs. Adams became known for her annual Dolls Musical Festivals in which her young piano students were invited to bring a "going-away doll". Following a music recital consisting entirely of music written about dolls, the dolls were packed and sent to less fortunate children. This tradition continued for years, from approximately 1908 until 1950. (3" x 7 3/4", photograph b&w)"
