The biology major is designed to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts and methodologies of the biological sciences, to develop the ability to engage in scientific research, and to investigate the relationships between biology and other fields of study, including social and environmental sciences.

Based upon a wide spectrum of courses, laboratory applications, and experiential learning opportunities, the biology program provides students the opportunity to perform faculty-supervised independent research. Within this major:

  • You can concentrate in general biology or environmental biology.
     
  • Both concentrations offer honors and professional honors options.
