Discovery is an annual 21-day discipleship course taught in the wilderness in which students backpack, rockclimb, canoe, fast for 2-4 days (solo experience), cook their meals over an open fire, use map and compass to find their way, and live with the same group of 9-10 team members. For most participants, this is a life-changing experience, and many report this time in the wilderness gave them a sense of something greater than themselves and allowed them time to think about who God is and who they are in relation to God. The final leg of the journey is a hike to the summit of Mt. Mitchell and then 14-mile "run-down" to the Montreat campus.
