Bibliography Cards

All the data that a student needs to do a bibliographic citation should be on the bibliography card. Consult a reputable style manual in the format specified by your instructor for exact forms to use.

Bibliographic data falls into three categories
  • Author (sometimes there is no author given)
  • Title
  • Publication information (place, publishing company, and date for a book; volume number, issue number, date, and page numbers for periodicals; the date of access and URL for electronic media)
It is also useful to tell where the source is located physically, especially if the research project is extensive.
