Digging Deeper Assignments

1. Following is a list of general topics. Narrow and focus each topic into three possible essay topics.

Marijuana
Technology
Traditional family values
Physician-assisted suicide
Gun control
Fairness in advertising
Salary inequities
Alcohol
Bias in the media
Racial prejudice

2.    Now, take three of your essay topics and write a focused thesis statement for each of them.

3.    Read the following general thesis statements. Rewrite each one to make it more specific.

a. Exercise is good for you.

b. Driving a car can be hazardous.

c. Computers are useful.
